Observation

Whilst carrying out the observation task, I noticed that when brushing whilst being observed that I put more thought into how I brush. The direction I brush in, the speed I move my brush, the force I use, the face I make, the time I spend, the times I wash my toothbrush and so on. So many things are actually happening during that one task, am I actually doing what I normally do or am I acting and trying to be a perfect participant?

This is very interesting and important when carrying out research, because you need to know that what you are observing is real or as close to real (simulation) rather than fake data as this will affect your research and then your product idea and development.

So we must all think about how we can get the most realistic observation when carrying out research.
